Spring Breeze

Though I’m not celebrating Spring, we should agree that March is a sign of warmer weather. Indonesia is poured by heavy rain since the beginning of the year and the political heat hasn’t worn off ever since. But as March is the closing month of the first quarter of 2017, I want to make sure that I don’t let the year goes by too fast. Since I haven’t posted any random list for this year, here’s a few exciting things I’ve found so far.

Project Style gives us a gift in a shape of collaboration from Disney and few of our local brands. The brands include some of my favorites, like Kandura, Limawatch, and shopatvelvet. The results are interesting, look at those watches!

Pause and Repeat

I think I’ve lost count to how many nights I’ve been spending in this hospital. Yet, here I am again, lying down on a thin blanket on the floor. Awake, waiting for the day to change. I’m not fond of the hospital room, but weirdly enough it’s been a second home for these past months. I don’t know whether it’s a cry for help or another sentimental night. My eyes got tired and I think I’ve broken my body with not enough sleep and lack of nutrition. I gulp down vitamins to keep me awake, but my mind was slowly broken.

Will we ever recover from this? Will we ever survive this?

I don’t know how to contain fear in a small jar and wrap it into the glittering world of happiness. I don’t know how to stay sane in the world of small thoughts and conspiracies. Yet, we continue breathing in and out on this entire space of beams and fast lane. Taking all odds, catching favors, grabbing lights and stars, living the farthest our eyes can reach.

This has been a good rest. After all, we are always better than we think we are. Let’s hit play and survive this.

The Constant Struggles to Fight Like a Girl

Beberapa tahun lalu, saya sempat hampir menangis ketika menonton campaign Like a Girl dari Always. Fast forward ke hari ini, Puty yang baru saja merilis koleksi terbaru Fat Bunny mengirimi saya bonus shopping bag Fight Like a Girl bergambar Rey dari Star Wars (padahal saya sudah borong 2 tote bag lainnya, hahaha) and it’s almost teared me up. Bukan cuma karena saya dikasih surat dari Puty atau tapi karena Puty bilang I suit that tote.

Saya jadi bertanya ke diri sendiri apakah sebenarnya saya sudah cukup memperlihatkan semangat Fight a Like a Girl di kehidupan sehari-hari? Kapankah sebenarnya momen Fight Like a Girl ini bakal terpenuhi?

Now Scrolling, Vol. 1

The Color of Each Worlds – 500 Days of Summer in Colors

One of the reasons I fell in love with movie making (or movie in general) is the fact that it could be something completely complex or straightly simple. The golden rule of movie plot that goes someone-wants-something-and-get-into-other-things-in-between is often dolled up by many forms of storytelling. The storytelling could involve a lot of things, from dialogue to how the scenes are shot, from the wardrobe to how the scenes are cut. And sometimes, Colors.

In one of the most tragic rom-com movie of all time, 500 Days of Summer is not only trying to captivate our heart and ears (the soundtrack are all amazing!), but it also tries to please our eyes with colors. The foreshadowing of the story is brilliantly told by heavy used of colors.
