After a month of failed interviews and disheartening news, Ramadhan is finally here. It’s great to have a new routine to run to. I tried my hand on writing, but nothing comes out. It’s weird also that when I don’t have any intention on writing, I just blurted out 2000+ of words yesterday. I’ve been trying to be productive this past month, but still trying to get more grasp on anything else. Scrapping things each day, wanting to know what’s wrong.

It’s becoming harder to write about my own life each days, as I became more reluctant to share current information to anyone else. One day, I’ve been reading about argument about being extrovert, introvert and this new terminology called ambivert. I’ve been cynical to this, I can’t agree on the idea of people called themselves an introvert at sometimes and called extrovert on another time. There’s a big difference between not wanting to meet people or having their energy drained when meeting people. But then again, labeling a person in one thing is not entirely a nice thing to do.

On and all, here’s to another Monday and another week. Let’s try to have a really meaningful time for ourselves each day.

Setelah post sebelumnya tentang beberapa idola Instagram saya, sekarang saya ingin berbagi tentang beberapa brand yang saya follow di Instagram. Brand-brand ini tidak hanya berhasil menjual produk-produknya, tapi punya feed Instagram dan message yang kuat bagi brand-nya. Saya mendapat banyak sekali insight seputar bagaimana cara mengkomunikasikan value bisnis maupun pesan yang diusung brand tersebut dengan follow akun mereka.

Spring Fling

It’s almost the end of April and everyone on the other timeline seem to enjoy Sakura blossoms on the other side of the world. It feels good to see people enjoying their vacation rather than bickering about the political situation. So here’s a recap of things I found the previous month.

Beauty and The Beast is indeed one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. Back in the VHS era, it was one of the only three movies I had on the rack. I’m sure my mother picked it up randomly but the movie left a great impression to me. While Aladdin is still my favorite Disney movie because of its sense of adventure (and complex understanding of human’s greed), Beauty and The Beast is the close second. One of the reasons why I love it so much, is I envy Beast’s library.

I remember most of the songs present in the movie, especially Be Our Guest and Something There. When the live version movie came last month, I immediately watch it on its premiere date (and once more after that).

Beast’s library is the only place that matters

For those of you who skips the entire 20^th century and never watch the original 1991 cartoon version, Beauty and The Beast is the first animated movie to be nominated for The Best Picture at Academy Awards. It is also the first animated movie which receives Golden Globe’s Best Picture for Musical and Comedy back in 1992. It’s /that/ good.

Lazy Guide untuk Packing Light Ketika Travelling

Sewaktu berpergian, baik untuk liburan singkat sewaktu weekend ataupun seminggu lebih ke luar kota, saya selalu suka momen packing. Walaupun kadang ditunda sampai H-1 (ataupun Jam-XX), kayaknya waktu packing adalah salah satu waktu di mana saya paling menikmati dunia, haha. Saya pernah menangis di toilet umum waktu berpergian sendirian karena barang yang saya bawa terlalu berat (it sounds silly but it did happen!). Tapi lama-kelamaan, saya jadi bisa memilah apa yang sebaiknya dibawa dan apa yang kurang penting. Saya sampai punya list barang wajib yang harus dibawa di notes yang ada di handphone. Makanya kali ini saya ingin berbagi beberapa hal yang saya pikir penting di-consider ketika packing dan brand/barang favorit yang selalu saya gunakan. Saya juga mencantumkan beberapa merek lokal yang saya suka.

Tips pertama ketika packing tentu saja mengetahui tempat tujuan, durasi perjalanan, dan yang tak kalah penting: cuaca. Untuk musim panas/hujan tentu saja alokasi pakaian harus lebih banyak daripada berpergian di musim dingin misalnya. Pikir dua kali kalau kamu ingin membawa buku ataupun barang elektronik yang berat, apakah bisa dialihfungsikan dengan barang yang lainnya misalnya. Misalnya membawa dalam bentuk pdf ataupun e-book untuk buku, ataupun print peta dalam lembaran daripada membawa travel guide yang berat.

The Unashamedly Idealistic World of The Newsroom

Setiap beberapa periode waktu, saya kerap menonton ulang serial TV favorit yang menurut saya tak lekang oleh waktu. Tahun kemarin, saya menyempatkan menonton ulang LOST dan masih jatuh cinta dengan bagaimana ketegangan terus dibuat setiap episodenya. Tapi sebenarnya, ada satu serial TV yang selalu saya ulang hampir 2 kali setahun, judulnya adalah The Newsroom.

Aaron Sorkin menciptakan sebuah drama yang berfokus tentang benturan jurnalisme ideal dengan tekanan masyarakat maupun kepentingan-kepentingan sosial. Season pertama The Newsroom tayang di HBO pada tahun 2012 dan berakhir pada season ketiganya di tahun 2014. Selama 3 tahun masa tayangnya, The Newsroom hanya memiliki 25 episode yang membuatnya padat dan sarat makna. The Newsroom tidak memiliki review yang terlalu tinggi di beberapa situs rangking seperti Rotten Tomatoes atau Metacritic karena kontennya dianggap terlalu cynical ataupun terlalu idealis. Beberapa episodenya dikritik dengan keras karena banyak hal yang terkesan terlalu menyindir bentuk-bentuk jurnalisme masa kini, dimana seharusnya fakta dan integritas ada di atas iklan dan trafik kunjungan.
