I don’t really have anything to do for these last hours of Sunday. I’ve checked all to-do-list on my calendar and some random idea keeps coming and coming. I told myself to write, but I don’t really have anything to write. I’ve got no new news, since life seems roll like it should be right now. Work and some other things to do. I’m kind of exciting for few things, like a trip next week or Kawung Living’s first collaboration ever (ha!).
Speaking of it, some friends asked me how I managed time to run Kawung Living as well having a full time job. The answer is I really don’t know either.
I guess it is learn-as-we-go kind of thing. At first, our problem mostly came when we don’t have any photos to upload or got a little excited to upload all photos at once. But now, I kind of understand the timing better. I try to schedule some post to upload, and just planning for a week what I’m going to do. I limit myself to 2-3 post per day at the Instagram and trying to write 1 blog post for a week. It’s more convenience and organized. We also scheduled the shipping day to twice a week so we don’t need to be panic when an order came and we managed time better with our office work.
Production time however is a different phase and we kind of do it separately from daily activities. Production is mostly consuming 2-3 weeks with 1-2 weeks planning and design. It occurs once or twice a month or once every two month (except some custom order that we got). Although that we seemed organized enough only 40-60% chances it is on the right timeline. The rest of it, fells like a casual deadliners’ life :))
Time management is still something I struggled with until now. At first, I ruined my workflow at the office and I can’t concentrate for anything. All I’m thinking of is going home and open up Adobe Photoshop (it still is sometimes). Then we start to apply the one-hour-rule. For one hour after work, we just dedicated ourselves for our business. Just that time for the entire day. No distraction, no Youtube or random click at the internet, no online shopping. For me, it is kind of bloated to three-or-four-hour-rule (with a little bit of distraction). My productive time start on 8 PM and ended at 11 PM or 12 PM. Since I need to get up at 4 AM at the latest I always forced myself to just go to sleep at 12 PM (but kind of failed sometimes). However, I sleep at the ride to office and vice versa. It is 15 – 30 minutes nap, but such a power nap :P
And as you know, I’m still a TV series addict. I still have 7-9 series to catch up each week so, this is my casual humble screen each night.
Sometimes, I just listen to their voices, at least I know what’s happening :)) I do some re-run on selected exciting episode at Friday night (my solitude night).
Weekend is my favorite day to work. I surprisingly always get up early at weekend. Saturday is my most productive day of the week. In the morning, I always try to work out for 30 minutes – 1 hour at weekend. Lucky enough, years ago my sister bought an abandoned treadmill (haha, this is the only so called work out I do, unless you count my 20 minutes walking every morning to the office). You know what you can do to distract you for feeling bored or lazy at treadmill? Movies. I rarely go to the cinema anymore, so Torrent has changed my life. I always put my laptop in front of the treadmill. If the one hour count is up, I am free :)) But if you favor the TV series better, the perfect countdown of it all is one episode of The Newsroom (don’t skip the opening and the end credit).
Then, just my favorite time of the week, me, my sweater, lovely laptop, good music, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I think the best job in the world is the one where you can wear your sweater to work. I love sweater, sweatshirt, or whatever it called. 50% of my clothes is just a damn sweater :)) I always told my sisters that if I’m ever going to design clothes (which will never happens), it will surely be a sweater line. Only that.
Sunday is my lazy day. Still trying to work out in the morning and finished things that unfinished. Watching TV and my love, Youtube. Browsing the mighty internet, trying to find inspiration in countless ‘open link in new tab’. After that, just packing stuff for another Monday, typing nonsense post and waiting for my inner self to say ‘alright, let’s go to sleep!’. And yes, I rarely going out or socialize with people. What a wonderful world.
Alright, let’s go to sleep!
