Weekend’s Treat

Since it’s weekend, I’d love to roam across the internet, doing nothing, looping songs in Spotify playlist, repeatedly watching the same YouTube videos, and ease up any tension I had before. I think everybody does that once in a while. So here’s to another weekend, another random round up made for you.

These days, your favorite rock bands seem to find ‘new sound’ and evolve with this whole new generation. Paramore goes electronic and Linkin Park goes pop (Chester Bennington, may your soul rests in peace), bBut Blink-182 only finds their new sound by going back to their roots. The deluxe version of California consists the original 19 tracks + 11 new songs, and 1 acoustic version of their released song, Bored to Death. A generous treat for people who still prefer listening to rock instead of hip-hop and electronic music.

Spring Fling

It’s almost the end of April and everyone on the other timeline seem to enjoy Sakura blossoms on the other side of the world. It feels good to see people enjoying their vacation rather than bickering about the political situation. So here’s a recap of things I found the previous month.

***

Beauty and The Beast is indeed one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. Back in the VHS era, it was one of the only three movies I had on the rack. I’m sure my mother picked it up randomly but the movie left a great impression to me. While Aladdin is still my favorite Disney movie because of its sense of adventure (and complex understanding of human’s greed), Beauty and The Beast is the close second. One of the reasons why I love it so much, is I envy Beast’s library.

I remember most of the songs present in the movie, especially Be Our Guest and Something There. When the live version movie came last month, I immediately watch it on its premiere date (and once more after that).

Beast’s library is the only place that matters

For those of you who skips the entire 20th century and never watch the original 1991 cartoon version, Beauty and The Beast is the first animated movie to be nominated for The Best Picture at Academy Awards. It is also the first animated movie which receives Golden Globe’s Best Picture for Musical and Comedy back in 1992. It’s /that/ good.

Spring Breeze

Though I’m not celebrating Spring, we should agree that March is a sign of warmer weather. Indonesia is poured by heavy rain since the beginning of the year and the political heat hasn’t worn off ever since. But as March is the closing month of the first quarter of 2017, I want to make sure that I don’t let the year goes by too fast. Since I haven’t posted any random list for this year, here’s a few exciting things I’ve found so far.

Project Style gives us a gift in a shape of collaboration from Disney and few of our local brands. The brands include some of my favorites, like Kandura, Limawatch, and shopatvelvet. The results are interesting, look at those watches!

Last Quarter

Time is always a friend. No matter how fast it moves, no matter how slow it goes. It’s sad that 2016 is almost passed us over, but it will be exciting to welcome anything that comes after this. So as an ode to the end of September, here’s a list of random things to read or watch that I’m recently into.

Fall in love with Bento Graphics’ portfolio. My favorite works are this and this. I always love how Japanese companies tackle design problem. The company like Nendo and Muji are amongst few companies that I adore. They always blend out of the box design thinking and simplicity really well.

There are more reasons to love Stephen Colbert each day. One of them, he loves science and technology and can’t get enough of Neil deGrasse Tyson as much as I do :))

“Something can be rare and uninteresting, because of how common its rarity is.”

Things: Crush, Crush, Crush

One of the things that I have been giving more attention to lately, is managing my budget. I was an impulsive buyer (maybe still am?). But now with unfixed income (and some small installments still left), I need to separate what is important and what is not. So, instead of buying things here and there I started making lists and collages about all the things that I want (and still not what I need, haha).

Here are some of the things that I have yearns for years or just laid my heart into lately.
